About the CEO and Founder

Lenka Fedorkova, Ph.D.

Dr. Fedorkova is former executive manager of the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs across the NIH’s 24 Institutes and Centers, the CDC and the FDA. At NIH she developed and implemented many policies, funding programs for US small businesses and spearheaded initiatives to help accelerate the translation of biomedical research into life-saving solutions. She represented the NIH in many high-level meetings in Congress and the White House. Her pragmatic approach to solving problems and capitalizing on opportunities enabled first ever partnership with BIO to showcase promising SBIR companies to the world, implementing business culture within the Coordinator’s office, and growing the network of domain experts for NIH’s flagship Commercialization Accelerator Program (CAP) for Phase II awardees. While managing the CAP, she worked hands-on with dozens of the Nation's most successful start-ups and SBIR/STTR awardees, and established standard review criteria and selected over 300 companies for the program. Notably, she directly worked with many of the CAP companies advising them on SBIR funding and business strategies, putting into practice her technical training, technology licensing and business development training.

Since establishing bioPrime, Dr. Fedorkova developed projects valued at $35M total with a 31x ROI average for business clients across 15 States. Dr. Fedorkova also serves as Advisory Board Member for Yale University’s Entrepreneurship Institute helping launch its new, NIH-funded Innovation 2 Impact initiative aimed at developing an ecosystem of innovation and accelerating technology translation within the substance abuse field. Her passion and vision is to also educate entrepreneurs and is actively engaged in several States where she regularly delivers workshops ranging from SBIR/STTR basics to commercialization strategies and specific business formation and growth themes. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Kent State University, Ohio, completed two years of the prestigious AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowship at NIH's Office of Technology Transfer, as well as graduated from NIH's Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences completing course work in business development and marketing for life sciences.
